Just finished reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green, an amazing, amazing book.
I’d had a strange fixation on this book since I read the first sentence, one or two days after it first came out, when my brother read us on a crazed crusade to find a Hanklerfished novel. (We didn’t.)
We did, however, find a book that changed my outlook on art a little, got me writing again.

I’m not going to say that this is the best book in existence.
It’s probably not.
Well, maybe it is, hell if I know, I haven’t read every book in existe—
But, look, okay, that’s not my point.
What I mean to say in this insignificant text post, most likely read and seen by no one but ye kind passerby, is that, despite that it probably isn’t the best book ever- I guess, even if it’s my current favorite- it changed me.
And sure, call it vain, call it something that Hazel Grace would be content to disagree with, but I want to make a difference in the world, somehow, and, yeah, TFioS showed me that it may not be easy, but at least it’s possible.
I’m gonna keep writing, and someday I’m going to get so freaking good that I’ll get a book published, a book that, even if it doesn’t alter the course of history, will at least afffect some people like TFioS did to me.

I wanna thank my daughter, Alice, for being the funniest person in my family. For coining phrases like “I want to go to there” and sometimes just putting on pretend make-up in the mirror, and she’ll turn to me and say, “I look like Barack Obama.” She has somehow gotten it in her head that it’s a good thing to resemble a famous politician. I don’t know where she got that idea.
